Minnetonka???

Driving past Lower Minnetonka, in spite of 18+ inches of snow falling on freshly frozen ice, the lake looks like it's fully snow ice with the obvious occasional morass. It's sure to be kited as soon as it warms up a bit. It may prove to be boatable.

Nite regatta canned

We had more interest in Minnesota than expected, and were hoping to piggyback with the Renegades this weekend (Dec. 11/12) on Winnebago. But they've canceled due to expectant weather. So our regatta has been downgraded to a local event. It looks like a group from Pewaukee may be heading to Winnebago for Saturday. Check their hotline if interested in joining in: 262-367-1656.

Thanks for getting ready. Look for the Nite Nationals end of January.

Also good luck to the DNs this weekend. A local Winnebago report as of this morning is kiting on clear, black ice -- south end.

Rainy Lake, International Falls, MN

As of this moment KA 2 reports Rainy Lake near International Falls, MN looks perfect for IceBoating, 1/2" snow covers a perfect sheet of ice.

Of course it does get a little chilly up there, -20F this morning...

2010 DN Western Regions

Kne Smith is looking for ice for the 2010 Westerns that was not held last winter. He is considering Dec 11-12 or 18-19. He wants ice reports. I am up in Sandstone Mn, 15 miles south of last weekends Sturgeon Lake. They have had just a few snow flurries on top of the minor 1 inch on top of 7 inches of decent snow ice. It could be slightly more sticky than last weekend as it sat on the ice. I will try to stop back late this afternoon or Wed afternoon to check it out. A slight snow event is predicted for Wed eve in the area.

After an excellent day on the ice in Forest Lake, We're watching the snow system move through...

We have an excellent back up location in Sturgeon Lake, ~85 miles up I 35

Here's the plan,

Forest Lake Sailing

Over 12 DN's and some Opti's are set up in front of Lake Side Park, Forest Lake MN and sailing...

More are on their way.

Ice checkers are scouting suitable lakes to our North and North East, where suitable options in fantastic condition exist. Some have already been walked on and some will shortely.

As we're watching this snow system emerge, many are reminding me that they aren't afraid to move overnight.

If that's the case, I imagine an announcenent will be made about 7:00 local time...

Any other scouted locations in Twin Cities?

I'd like to get out tomorrow before the snow. Any info out there on Spring park Bay, Medicine lake, etc?
Thanks!
