Ice! It'll be there.

We've had several teaser ice reports where lakes have substantially frozen and again thawed.

2003 Western Challenge in Buffalo,

2009 Western Challenge

11 Dec 2009 10:00 am
13 Dec 2009 5:00 pm

Team Minnesota, Sunday before the start of racingThe members of the loosely knit Minnesota Ice Sailors Association invite sailors of all abilities to the 2009 Western Challenge. Come to try out your new equipment, tune with some of the most experienced and fastest iceboaters, and meet the members of the Minnesota Ice Sailors Association. Iceboaters from all over the world have participated in previous years.

This event is informal and, historically, we do not compete for a trophy or cup, but only to see who has the speed for the upcoming season.

Minnetonka swap meet

Mike, from Shorewood Yacht Club, did a nice job putting together our Minnesota Swap meet. I'm guessing 6 DNs were sold along with a bunch of parts. Mike's also just about done making a kick-butt runner sharpener. Said he's open to sharpen for anybody at a nominal price.

Of note was the number of first timers and newbies. Great to have them there.

Next year: bigger, better, blah blah blah.

plank

I have an older, much older Dn with a questionable plank, it worked last year but I just noticed a weakening around a knot, with little time left to build a new one how would I go about reinforcing this one? I know it would not be class legal but that is of no concern. At the same time could a wooden mast be reinforced with fiber glass laminated to the leading edge? Thank you Dennis
