Christina comes through again!

You will be hard pressed to recall an iceboat season that started as early as November 15. But mark this date on your calendar. Today, Tonka sailors ventured up to Lake Christina in Ashby MN and enjoyed a rare early start to the season. Congrats to the Doctor for being the first to rip across the lake!

The ice is over 6" thick and rated about a 7. It was a perfect day to clear out the cobwebs and put a few scrub races under our belts.

Sunday's forecast for Ashby is for winds in 15 to 25 mph range. This will force a change of venue to a local lake. An unnamed source who happens to be ranked number 1 in the world reports he sailed today on Swede Lake just west of Mound MN and will probably be there on Sunday.

Lots of ice in Mn

7 of us took the 3.5 hour road trip up I94 to Christina. Buffalo Lake froze over Thursday eve as well as Osakis. Good day to tune things up as well as a late hour of good ripping around winds.
3 of us finished the day at the Ashby Legion for a bingo game, burger and beers!
JD reported he sailed parts of Swede Lake on 2-3 inches of decent ice. Now it may have a light dusting. A few of us will be there by 10 Sunday for some scrub racing. Come on out and join the fun.
