As of 0640 local time DN Sailors at Sturgeon Lake woke to just a trace of snow, and the regatta HQ Hotel about 6"
Hence, we're moving this morning.

After an excellent day on the ice in Forest Lake, We're watching the snow system move through...
We have an excellent back up location in Sturgeon Lake, ~85 miles up I 35
Here's the plan,
Dinner tonight at the HQ hotel.
Watch the snow, get a dawn report on snowfall at both sites (Forest and Sturgeon Lakes,
and just after dawn Saturday, certainly no later than 0800 local time decide to
A. Stay in Forest Lake
B. Move to Sturgeon Lake
It's going to be epic.

Sturgeon Lake Update
A highly regarded sailor is standing on the ice at this moment on Sturgeon Lake, it has yet to snow...
At dawn, based on the report from Sturgeon Lake, this event will more than likely move, snow is falling in the Forest Lake area, at this time 2" is on the vehicles in the HQ parking lot.

7 AM call to day 2 headquarters of Ray & Marges Resort. Stay tuned. As of 7 PM no snow at Sturgeon Lake and lake is better ice and bigger lake!!!!!
Snow report in East Bethel
Looks like 6 inches of snow in East Bethel, which is 17 miles NW of Forest Lake. Making the call to Ray & Marges Resort on the South shore
of Sturgeon Lake. He reports a dusting of snow on top of grade 8.5 of ice.
Spoke to Mark Christianson who confirmed the dusting of snow and cloudy now. The Americ Inn in Moose Lake reports full ex cept for suites! Just waiting for The icemakers posting! Rob and I are heading North in 30 minutes.

Snow band looks light to none west of albert lea and west and south. Spirit Lake Okoboji, worthington, Clear lake Ia. anyone down there that can give an ice report????
