closest sailable ice to twin cities?

What is the closest ice to the twin cities MSP? I Want to do some sailing this week and want to know how far I have to drive.

I think you could use Phalen in St Paul. I'm not sure if the cops would let you drive on the ice though. I don't think they would have a problem with you parking in the lot and walking it on to assemble close by. There is a good figure eight track left over from Fire on Ice. It doesn't look like much wind though. (Its almost calm here in Grantsburg) There also could be a light coating of snow. Any thoughts on this Mark or Geoff?

The lake is non motorized, and they have blocked the ramp... you might portage a short one, to the ice, and a short push to out to the tracks which shouldn't have more than an inch of snow on them, for now... forecast isn't good.

More left turning will happen soon, maybe next week.

It's set up for winds out of the west.
