If you broke your boat or yourself, or if your pony threw you at the 2008 Challenge post a reply.
Seems like we had a lot of broken gear.
- John M. hurts his shoulder on a wild slide on friday
- Matt J. re-hurt his neck on friday bouncing around
- Adam K. broke his chock spinning out on friday
- Mike M. split his bow on friday
- Steve O. pulls apart the bottom skin on his new, full length boat on friday
- Tomek Z. removes both his chocks at the windward pin on saturday
- Berdnt Z. delaminated his plank on sunday
- Rob E. and Jorg B. have contact at the leward pin on sunday leaving damage.
- Geoff S. said he had on out-of-boat experience
I'm sure there are more... Post a reply if you are repairing gear or applying hot-cold treatment..
Add to the list....
Actually that spin cost me one broken chock, one bent chock, and one broken carbon stiffner!

Damage almost fixed
My DN actually suffered the weakening at last years NA's on Pepin. I was using a brand new 30" front insert steering runner with a brake on the front of it. The brake had not been tightened, so on the qualifying race on the first downwind at 50MPH, the brake jiggled up and over the front!
I spun out and came to a jarring stop. My fingers tried to tighten it but did it again and I withdrew to the pits to tighten it up for good.
All seemed fine with the steering post until Osakis on Friday and after getting a little hang time(like the video shows) and a few spin outs the steering post weakened and the bow cracked. The steering post was moving fore and aft about a half inch! The wooden block inside had cracked along with part of the bow.
Repairs are underway and progressing well thanks to Browner's shop and knowledge plus JD's piece of scrap skin.
Should be ready for the soon to be ice.

Sam Kiefer - OOB
Sam Kiefer (US 5555) seems to have had a very public out of boat experience, I've heard no claim of injury except pride, and know we have to check the attachment plates.
Hope to see this thread on every regatta!
Thanks Geoff, great shot!
