The members of the loosely knit Minnesota Ice Sailors Association invite sailors of all abilities to the 2009 Western Challenge. Come to try out your new equipment, tune with some of the most experienced and fastest iceboaters, and meet the members of the Minnesota Ice Sailors Association. Iceboaters from all over the world have participated in previous years.
This event is informal and, historically, we do not compete for a trophy or cup, but only to see who has the speed for the upcoming season.
Friday has traditionally been the best day, it is a training day with scrub racing.
Saturday and Sunday racing will be more formal, with racing starting at 10:00am
The primary location is Lake Christina, in Ashby, Minnesota, about 2 hrs NW of Minneapolis right off of Interstate 94.
As always, there is no registration fee.

No conflicts this year! Can't wait to sail on that hard clean ice again and looking forward to seeing everyone. Its gonna be great. As always, we will have a scrub race day on Friday and keep score Saturday and Sunday. We'll stop scoring at about noon or one on Sunday so the long rangers can get moving toward home. "Friday is always the best day" Big courses and fast ice are what we have come to expect.
