New plank glued up...

The final (and most lengthy) part of the repairing my DN after the crash on Jan. 2nd was to build a new plank.

Last Monday, Byron Tetzlaf dropped of an Ash board from his stock so I would have enough word for a new plank (Thanks Byron!). Tuesday Peter Fauerbach helped me turn most of the Ash and Basswood boards into shavings with the planer. Thursday I ripped the Ash into strips and Friday I edged-glued them into top and bottom skins. Yesterday I planned them down to the final thickness and cut them to the final width; Jim Nordhaus helped me get the plywood surface for the jig down from storage and into place (Thanks Jim!)

Today I trimmed all the boards to length, built some spacers, figured out how to clamp everything, and glued everything into one piece:

Tomorrow I'm planning to pull it off the jig, clean it up, check the deflection, and start tuning. It should be ready to go well ahead of next weekend. Now all we need is some ice...
