Repairing 5156 - Day 6 (PM)

This evening was a quick stop in the shop again. I started by sanding the really rough edges off the various patches (just so I wouldn't cut myself on the sharp edges). Then I laid out the fiberglass to bond to the outside of the sideboard. After some dithering, I decided to use just a bit of heavy unidirectional running fore-aft to balance the layer on the inside, and put a layer of 6 oz. cloth over the top; the alternative I considered was to use the 6 oz. 80:20 unidirectional instead of the cloth. The two layers went on without any problems.

Tomorrow's big job will be putting a 3mm plywood skin on top of the sideboard/grab-rail. I'll also probably sand all the patches smooth and feather the edges of the glass patches.

Here's the patch I added this morning to the bottom skin just forward of the mast-step structure. You can see the crack running across the middle of the image:
